Lloyd was building, leaving the elderly man with a collapsed lung and fractured ribs. Mr Good had called Lloyd after receiving a leaflet advertising his services through his door in Herne, Kent, and they agreed on £1,0. Lloyd arrived at the job calling himself Gary Roberts and was accompanied by another man whom he referred to as his 'twin brother'. Canterbury Crown Court heard they began digging the path on Monday, April 1.

Mr Good when he queried the price. The pair were then said to have become 'aggressive and abusive', before Lloyd assaulted Mr Good with the shovel. The pensioner fell to the ground but managed to get back into his house and call the police, with the court told he was 'struggling for breath' while making the 9. Investigating officer Detective Constable Keith Rochford said: ‘Mr Good described how he screamed and shouted for the assault to stop. He was left with multiple injuries, including a collapsed lung, fractured ribs, a split lip and a suspected broken jaw.’Lloyd was traced through his mobile phone number and was arrested in Herne Bay the following day, driving the same open- backed pick- up truck he had used when he had visited Mr Good’s home. He was also forensically linked to the scene by a footprint. During police interviews he admitted agreeing to carry out the work but said Mr Good had become aggressive when he told him to stop work because it was too expensive.

Lloyd claimed he left when asked to and denied assaulting the pensioner. But a jury found him guilty following a four day trial in June.

Judge Rupert Lowe jailed him for nine years and gave him an indefinite restraining order not to contact Mr Good or his partner. After the sentencing, DC Rochford said: ‘This was a particularly vicious attack by a violent individual who took exception to the fact that the victim had questioned the price he had given for the garden work.‘Mr Good had to undergo several operations to repair his collapsed lung and has suffered long- term medical complications.

He will live with the consequences of this assault for the rest of his life. Mr Good, pictured in hospital, was left with a collapsed lung and fractured ribs after the attack, which came following an argument over the price of a garden path he had asked Lloyd to build at his home in Kent‘Gary Lloyd showed no compassion for his elderly victim and ignored his pleas to stop the assault. 'By denying the offence he put Mr Good and his partner through the further ordeal of a trial.‘This sentence shows how seriously the courts take violent crime and I hope it sends a strong message to criminals that it is not acceptable to target elderly victims.‘I would like to pay tribute to Mr Good and his partner for the bravery they have shown throughout this investigation and trial.’Following the sentencing, Mr Good, now 7. It has been a horrendous nightmare and no- one really knows what I have been through, but I have got to move on and I will, but it will need time.‘Be very wary of people who post flyers through your letterbox because you don’t know who they are. 'Only use people you know or who have been recommended to you by someone you trust.‘I would like to pay tribute to Detective Constable Keith Rochford for his diligence and sheer professionalism.

I firmly believe it was his input that got the case to court.’. Watch Mater And The Ghostlight Streaming more.
